How to set up a custom domain?
Adding a custom subdomain to your RocketLink Account
To add a custom domain, first, you need to create a DNS record.
If you'd like to use a subdomain for your links (ex. links.yourbrand.com), add a CNAME record for your subdomain with value cname.rocketlink.io
Example for link.yourbrand.com (subdomain):
Name/Host/Alias: link
TTL: 3600
Record Type: CNAME
Value/Answer/Destination: cname.rocketlink.io
If you'd like to use a root domain for your links (ex. myshort.link), add an A record for your domain with value 3.131.87.202
Example for myshort.link (root domain):
Name/Host/Alias: @
TTL: 3600
Record Type: A
Value/Answer/Destination: 3.131.87.202
When the DNS propagates you can add your domain to your RocketLink account.
To do that go to Settings>Domains tab or log in to your RocketLink account and go to this LINK. Then click the "Add custom domain" button and fill in the form.
Important Notes:
According to most DNS providers changes of your CNAME records can take up to 24-48 hrs to propagate. If you encounter any problems contact your DNS provider.
If you're using Cloudflare you need to turn off the HTTP Proxy for your custom domain (there should be an orange cloud icon that needs to be clicked and turn gray).
Keep in mind that you can't use the same domain that is also used to host any website. If you have a web page or any other service connected with the domain name, you should use a subdomain or a separate domain name for link shortening purposes.
